Happy Halloween!

The time is finally here...its HALLOWEEN! I have been a little sluggish in terms of my costume and my holiday movie watching. For as long as I can remember I have always watched Hocus Pocus at least once before Halloween. When I was younger I was always scared of that movie (especially Sarah Jessica Parker's character) but I loved when the dark haired sister flew on the vacuum cleaner. That movie is ancient but I hope I can find it on TV before the weekend is up. I'm sure it is on the Disney Channel or something similar. I may have to ask the BF to watch it too, maybe he would give up watching his precious Yankees on Saturday- just kidding.

They make witchcraft so silly. Check out SJPs character...she looks so young!

Last night (Wednesday) the BF and I went to the Blue-White Scrimmage at Rupp. It was tons of fun and I am ready for football to be over and basketball to be here. I have not latched on to the whole Calipari network of crazed fans but I do like the atmosphere much more. I like that there are chair-back seats and the bathrooms are much cleaner (as clean as a public restroom can be). The CATS looked great and it makes me miss being in college that much more:(

CATS fans packed RUPP for the Blue-White Scrimmage

Packed House!!!

C-A-T-S, CATS, CATS, CATS

We had a great time at the game, it was great to see the school spirit.

I have been a busy bee tonight. My apartment has shiny floors and countertops, my closet is full of clean clothes and my knick-knacks are dust free. I have even managed to read a few chapters in my book. I have always liked to have a clean space but I find myself wiping down my countertops and appliances a few times each day. I know what everyone is thinking and I know that I don't cook/make a mess in the kitchen but I can't handle the dust/grime that accumulates on a daily basis. I have gone through two canisters of CLOROX Wipes for countertops/appliances in the last month.

Love these!

I love these, they smell so fresh and I have even started buying the lemon-scented trash bags. Crazy I know but anything to mask the nasty smell of trash is great by me.

In case anyone has forgotten tonight is the RHOA Reunion special. Tonight is the first part and the second part will air next week. I'm sure the ladies will not disappoint.

I have a hair appt. tomorrow to cover up these awful roots. I had my hair touched up 4 weeks ago and it already looks trashy. For some reason my color gets really brassy really quickly and then the color just dulls completely. I will have to ask my hair girl about it. I will spare you any more details.

I hope everyone has a great week and has an even better weekend! Don't forget about Daylight Savings!

Happy Halloween

Chilly Game Day...

It has been a lazy weekend. Yesterday the BF and I went to the UK vs. ULM football game and lets just say it was FREEZING. The weather was very pleasant while the sun was out, but once the sun went down it was absolutely cold. The CATS pulled out a win and had a comfortable lead at half time so we took that as a sign it was time for us to leave. We had a great time and the BF was even happier that the CATS won.

We were bundled up in fleece and layers....Brrrr

I know that I had blogged about the RHOA on Thursday, and I was so excited to watch it. Well on Thursday night I fell asleep before it aired but I made sure that my DVR was going to record. I looked forward all day on Friday to watching the RHOA season finale. When I got home I put on my pajamas, I had my Sonic Sweet Tea and I was so ready to watch. I go to turn on my TV and to my shock it DID NOT RECORD. Lets just say I was upset. My DVR has been ornery lately, last week it didn't record Desperate Housewives (another favorite) or Cougar Town, so I am convinced that it knows what shows I like and it deliberately does not record them. Not to worry I did get to watch it yesterday morning early. Lets just say I can't wait for the reunion show...

I hope everyone has had a great weekend!
Happy Halloween Week

RHOA Season Finale

So I am upset that the finale of the Real Housewives of Atlanta is tonight.

I am a sucker for reality TV and I can't seem to look away when its on. The RHOA is my total brain rot show. It is seriously tacky and the women are less than classy but I can't miss an episode. Out of all of the series and the different characters Atlanta is my favorite. I can't relate to any of the women and I don't particulary like the characters they play but I love watching. The women are full of drama, hurtful comments, and senseless materialism. I think I watch because their lives/attitudes are so ridiclous and so far from what I consider normal that its crazy. To put it simply, the show is a trainwreck.

The RHOA Cast...

Not to worry, I will not be without a favorite show for too long. The RH of Orange County is starting on November 5th. I am super excited for the 5th season of the original series. The OC women are less physically dramatic, they are much quieter, and they are BLONDE!!!!

The OC Cast...

I love all seasons of the RH but Atlanta does have a place at the top. I hope everyone can appreciate trainwreck TV like I do. Be sure to tune in at 10EST on Bravo to watch the action.

Happy Thursday!

Not Feeling Well...

I know that I have been gone for several days but I have good reason. I had a slight touch (when I say slight, I mean major) of food poisoning on Friday. Don't forget it was the BFs birthday and we were visiting his family in TX. I had never had food poisoning before and I never want to get it again. It was the worst feeling in the world.

Despite the lingering sickly feelings we had a great weekend. It was nice to relax, catch up with the BF's family, and enjoy each other's company. It was such great weather and when we got back to KY it was so cold and windy. I couldn't believe the weather had changed that much in just two short hours. I think it was then when I realized how far away TX really was.

Pre-Sickness

24 hrs post-sickness...Please notice the pale-faceness. That is how I looked for the rest of the weekend-ugh

When returning home I still wasn't feeling up to par. I went to the Doctor (ick) yesterday, and was put on an anti-biotic. I am hoping that I feel up to participating in the weekend football festivities.

Also exciting...MALLORY IS 18. Today is my younger sister's 18th birthday! That really makes me feel old. Happy Birthday MAL!

I apologize for the short post, not feeling well has sapped my creativeness.

I hope everyone has had a great start to the week! Happy HumpDay

Hair Care-Weekend Vacay

Blonde...

Having blonde hair is ALOT of work, and being the hair challenged person that I am I need all of the help that I can get. I have always needed my hair care professional to be a more than a stylist, she has to be a confidant, friend, and critic. I need her to say, "Morgan, your hair is a mess," or "Morgan, those roots are terrible." My hair girl does just that, she is great. I need that blunt honesty because I am blind when it comes to blonde. We have been going over options, or I should say that she has been giving me options and I just stare in the mirror horrified that I may not have enough hair to put into a ponytail. Again, I am hair challenged and when the mornings come too early the ponytail never fails. I know its awful but some mornings thinking of having to do my hair makes me want to get back into bed. So I stick by love of the PONYTAIL!!!

She has given me a new hair regimen to protect my poor damaged hair from further distress caused by the super hot hair dryer, and the flat iron. I have always been a skeptic about the over-priced hair care products but she may have turned me. These products are GREAT!

The REDKEN Real Control family of products

I have been using the above products for almost a week and I can tell a huge difference. The frizzy fly-aways are not so frizzy anymore and my hair feels so much more hair-like. Pre-REDKEN my hair was straw-like and now it is soft to the touch. I am now a true-believer in the salon take-home products. I used to think that they were just trying to sell me, but I am so glad that I caved into the pressure. Who knows, they may start calling me for hair commercials or something like that, that would be great!

This weekend is the BF's birthday and we are traveling to his home state of TX! We are going to be celebrating his special day with his sweet family at their home. The nervous person that I am I shipped the gift to TX a few weeks ago for fear of luggage being lost or difficult airport security men who would want to unwrap the gift. I would post about the gifting that I have been doing but since both the BF and the sister (sister will be 18 on the 21st) read the Daily Days I think I will wait till the gifts have already been given. Oh well, I will be sure to document the gift unwrapping (I'm sure the BF will love that..haha) to share with everyone. I'm totally kidding, but I will be sure and snap some shots of TX for everyones viewing pleasure.

Texas...

I am super excited about this weekend vacay, it will be a nice break from work and I am super excited to see everyone. I feel like Lexington is trying to copy on the weather of Seattle. It has been rainy, cold, and blah for like the past 7 days. Its awful, but I checked the weather in my cube today and the weather in TX is supposed to be 70 and sunny. YAY!!! NO MORE RAIN, or at least until Sunday when we get back. It will a nice tease of summer that left us a few weeks ago!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Happy Travels

Call Me Oprah...I Was Insulted

Lets READ! I love to read. When I was in grade school if you read books you were rewarded with "Book-It" points from Pizza Hut. I guess I really loved pizza because I can remember wanting to read more books than anyone else so I could get the most "Book-It" slips. I guess it stuck because I still love to read. I know its kinda nerdy but I love a good book. Since graduating I find that my schedule is less booked so I find myself reading ALOT. When in college I didn't have time for leisurely reading, most of the time I was reading textbooks (boring) or news snippets that weren't so newsworthy.

I was telling someone at work (yes, they have finally started to acknowledge that I exist) about my love of reading. I have started to take a book to work in case I get a brief moment to breathe. It doesn't happen often but when it does it is nice to relax and catch up with my favorite characters. When telling my fellow cube workers about my hobby one of them had the nerve to compare me to OPRAH. I am pretty sure that I just sat there and was like, "Oh My Gosh" I hope that I don't make people think of Oprah. Granted she is crazy successful but I think that she is unoriginal and uninteresting. Even though I am not one of Oprah's fans I do think that she does have good ideas when it comes to her book club and discussions. I have yet to read one of Oprah's top books but I think the whole premise is GREAT!

Here are a few of my top choices.

The cover says it all...

Yes, I bought the autobiography of Tori Spelling

And yes I bought the sequel- I cant wait for the 3rd installment!

Redeeming Love was one of the best books that I have ever read.
A touching story with a fantastic message. I could not put it down.

A great beach read. Mary Kay Andrews is my favorite author!

Mary Kay Andrews latest best seller. I can't wait to get started!

I find myself asking the BF to go to Barnes and Noble or Joseph Beth just to browse. He enjoys reading too so its nice that he doesn't cringe when I ask. I love new books, and love finding new authors/series to follow. My love of reading doesn't stop at books. I love all magazines. I love to flip through crafty magazines, home/decorating magazines, and of course the celebrity magazines. So basically I just really love to read!

I know this has been a bland and nerdy post but I thought that being compared to Oprah warranted a run-down of my favorite books. I enjoyed the mini photo shoot that I had with my books on my patterned chair. Some of the books (Mommywood and Redeeming Love) had super glossy covers and it made it difficult to photograph so I went to the professionals at Amazon.com for my cover shots.

I almost forgot, I love to read blogs too. I got started in this whole blogging business by reading other people's stories and thinking "hey, this looks like fun!" I hope everyone can channel their inner nerd and curl up with a good book and get lost with their favorite characters.

Happy Monday

Happy Cooking/Golfed Out

So yesterday the BF and I traveled to BG to watch my sister in the Kentucky Girls State Golf Tournament. We were told upfront that there would be no golf carts allowed and that we would be walking the entire 18 holes. I had never walked 18 holes of golf before and I didn't think that it could be that straining.

The BF and I left Lexington about 6ish and it was a long ride to the course, it was cold, rainy, and really dark. Overall the ride was pleasant and I was able to snap a few shots of the BF (aka the chauffeur) to document the trip.

He was such a good sport!! Notice the darkness, it was really early

After getting to the course we both realized that it was colder than we both had anticipated. It was overcast, the air was heavy, and the wind was blowing. So basically it wasn't a good day to be outside, much less on a golf course with nothing to protect you from the elements. Mallory did great and it was great for us to get to see everyone and see her play. It was the first time that I had ever watched a match from start to finish and it was interesting. The weather did not improve at all during the day. The sun would peak out and tease us at times but overall the weather was dismal. Despite the weather Mallory did great!

After she finished - at the score tent!

At the end of the day I was so tired and this morning my legs were still tired. I think the BF was pretty close to frozen when we got back to the car after the match. I had always thought that walking on the golf course would be done so at a leisurely pace, but I was wrong. Once Mallory hit off the tee box it was a scramble to get the next spot. No slow paceness to it. For the next match I know what to expect and will be sure to walk outdoors in advance before committing to go.

I know that I have blogged about my kitchen skills on several occasions and when the BF and I were at home last weekend I was given several surprises to make my kitchen more "kitchenly." The basket included utensils needed for any baking/cooking tasks, some pasta with my favorite sauces, and nice shiny cookware.

Some of the utensils

Pastas, so yummy!

My cooking care-package!

So I guess this means that I have no excuses when it comes to cooking. I now have a good start with the needed tools for my cooking adventures. It has been a hectic weekend and I am ready for a quiet night with my couch and DVR. All that walking really wore me out. I went to the mall today thinking that would put some pep in my step and all it did was make me realize that my I am so tired. I went to JCrew and Macys and had to head home. I was so happy to see the Honda in the parking lot because it meant my legs would be getting a break. Dramatic, I know but golf is really a sport that can get you into good shape.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Oh Papa Murphy....

As said in earlier blogging snippets I am working on my skills in the kitchen. I am taking things slow and I am finding little things here and there that I enjoy. Something that has eased me into this new domestic transition is take and bake pizza. I know that I have mentioned it before, Papa Murphy's Take-n-Bake, it has to be one of my new favorites.

The whole concept of take-n-bake is so great. I like that fact that you can go and watch the entire process, everything from dough tossing to saran wrapping- you get to see it all. It is so easy to prepare and it rivals any pizza that I have ever had. I tried to document the process but I couldn't get a clear picture. The glass at the store had a terrible glare. I was however able to take a few pictures before the BF and I gobbled it up.

Pre-Bake

14 minutes and 425 degrees later

It was so YUMMY. I can't wait to take-n-bake again!

All this cooking has me seriously thinking about my Halloween costume. I have tossed around several ideas and nothing has been WOW. I refuse to do a three-peat of my Twister dress. As much as I love that outfit I have worn it for two straight years, but I have always gotten compliments and it is super comfy so I might bring it back out for its final round. Twister is a last resort and I am serious this year.

I guess I could always channel my inner chef and dress in character. The costume would be easy, functional, and self-explanatory.

I could take a Papa Murphys take-n-bake as a prop!

Who knows. Halloween is still a few weeks away so I have a little time before I really start to fret. I hope everyone has been having a great week. Its Wednesday so the weekend is almost here!

Happy Hump Day-

Weekend Travels....

Wheww... What a weekend. Before leaving you on Friday I had written that the BF and I were traveling to my hometown of Franklin for the weekend.

Franklin, KY- aka A Slower Paced Place...

We had a great time and it was good getting to see everyone. Before leaving on Friday I had been anxious running around trying to remember the things that I always forget when I go out of town (i.e. my toothbrush, face wash, glasses). I remembered all but my toothbrush, but don't worry I was able to find a replacement. I packed all the necessities into one small Vera Bradley duffel and my Longchamp shoulder tote. If anyone is interested in a new tote, I would defiantly recommend the Longchamp. These bags are lightweight, stain resistant and super fun.

I highly recommend... Very functional.

So as the BF was loading the bags into the car I noticed that there were some goodies on the backseat. I am not much on snacking in the car for fear of having to make pit-stops. I don't like to stop unless it is absolutely necessary, so I try to avoid all food/beverage intake if at all possible. The BF does not share in my theory of snack-less road trips because this bag of candy was HUGE. I think he must have gotten it in the Halloween section of Meijer or something because it screamed CAVITIES.

3 1/2 lbs of candy.

Before we got to Franklin, I was telling the BF about my two small cousins who he was going to be meeting for the first time. I still call them babies but they are really 6 and 7 years old. Since it is fall break at home they were getting to go to Florida along with the rest of the family. They were being all nice and calm around the BF (which is good because sometimes they can be a little rowdy). At some point throughout the visit I had an idea to get rid of some of that candy. I thought that I would load Sam and Will (the cousins) up with a good portion of the candy that the BF had brought along. So to answer your question, the BF was not able to polish off the entire bag of assorted sweets, he was a good sharer and let Sam and Will take the candy off his hands. I am sure my grandmother was cringing because she was going to have to ride in the car with them while they begged for the candy and fought over who got the red sucker and what not. Oh well, its vacation and it is totally okay to spurge while at the beach (or I think it is anyway). When I showed Sam the huge bag of candy he asked if he could pick out only the pieces that he wanted. We sat out on the golf-cart while he picked his favorite pieces out, he even was a good big brother and chose some pieces that Will would like too.

Will is on the left, and Sam is on the right.

I did some browsing on Saturday at some new chicky shops in BG. The BF stayed in the car and listened to UK football game. UK didn't do as well as hoped so it was probably better that he was in the car while I was dottling around. We had an easy afternoon, it was nice to just to be walking outside and have no set agenda. We will hopefully be making another trip back down to BG this weekend for my sister's golf match. If she qualifies for the final round of the tourney which is going to be on Saturday we are going to put on our walking shoes and walk the 18 hole course to cheer her on.

I hope everyone had a great weekend, I will leave you with the only photo of the BF and I from this weekend. I was busily concerned with taking pictures of other things that I forgot to get a good shot of the two of us.

Ahhhhhh...

Happy Monday!

2Nd PLACE!!!!

On Monday I blogged about how my sister Mallory was playing in the Region 4 Golf Tournament. As I had said earlier, she got all of the athletic prowess and she totally put it to good use on Tuesday. She placed second in the region and got an automatic bid to the state tournament. The state tournament is next week in BG, and I am sure that she will do fantastic.

Mallory with her trophy/plaque-WOOT WOOT 2nd PLACE!!!!

I hope everyone noticed her super-cute outfit. I had to watch the above clip twice because the first time I was focused on her attire. I had never seen her sport those duds and I was impressed. She was definatley the best dressed out there. I will be sure to keep everyone updated on her progress in the tournament next week

Here are some more photos from her day at the golf course....

Mallory and Sabrina who also made it to State

Mallory and the newsman (I prefer to call him the PAPARAZI...)

Sweet shoes, super cute!!!

GOOD LUCK MALLORY!!!!

On a non-athletic note I am so ready for the weekend, I got a pedicure today and it was fantastic. I have been busy this week with crafting, a semi-stressed work environment and yes even some cooking so I thought that I deserved a break.

I was asked to make a scrapbook page for one of my friends for her 21st birthday. If I had not already mentioned it, I LOVE CRAFTING (I will bedazzle, glitter, or glue anything and everything). My friend Lauren who the page is for grew up outside of Cleveland in the suburbs. When she came to KY she apparently thought that she was moving to a farm and that people let cows and such run wild. As luck would have it we became friends and when she found out that I grew up in the country she was mildly jealous. I am dead serious when I say that her life's ambition (besides being a Home-Economics teacher) is to live in the country with a gravel driveway. Knowing all of this information I felt that it would be fitting that I make her page centered around "farmy" things.... here is how it turned out!

I had memory #11, and Lauren really is "A CITY girl with COUNTRY dreams"

After finishing my crafting duties I thought I was already in domestic mode so why not continue and put Betty Crockerness to work. I saw these brownie things the other day while at Target and thought they looked yummy so I threw them in my buggy and figured that I would try them. The BF was over so I figured that he would be a willing tester of the bite size brownies.

Pre-Bake

Post-Bake

I was kind of nervous because they were so small and the looked like little dirt balls that little kids would make. The BF said they were good, and I ended up take the rest to work. I thought maybe I would sweeten up my cube co-workers if I bribed them with food. No such luck, I ended up eating the rest of them. Oh well, they were actually pretty decent!

Weekend plans...going to FRANKLIN!!!! So I will be MIA for the next few days due to lacking technology and the horror of a dial-up Internet connection. I know-its terrible, but I am sure that I will have plenty of blog about when I get back to Lex.

I hope everyone has a fantabulous Friday and a great weekend!!!
Love, MKH
