Snowy Weekend

So this weekend the BF and I were supposed to venture to Texas for one of his friends weddings. Due to the weather conditions in TX (his parents had ice and 10 inches of snow, and his sister and bro-in law had ice too) the trip was postponed. I hope the wedding went well and I know that the weather conditions were problematic for a large portion of the guests. I know if that was my wedding I would be a hot-mess of stress and worry (not that I am not already like that) and to factor in the whole weather issue and half of the guests not being able to make the flight from their hometown due to snow would be tramatic.

I didn't work on Friday so I had the day to catch up on my DVR (did everyone see the Real Housewives of OC...CRAZY) and made a trip to the mall. In preparation for the afternoon flight I got up semi-early to be at the mall right when it opened at 9am. I guess I didn't get the memo because when I got to the mall the parking lot was empty. I was like, "Whoa, people must be staying in thinking it was going to snow" and as I get out of the car and walk up to the door at Macys I notice that the lights are still off and the doors are locked. I look at the sign and it says that the mall opens at 10am. I thought "OMG" and then I told myself no one saw me looking silly because I am the only one within sight. I get back in the Honda and drive to TJ Maxx thinking that would kill some time and thinakfully they were open so I could browse. (TJ Maxx makes me really antsy, and I don't like to paw through the racks and the shelves are never organized so I try to avoid it in general.) Eventually I went back to the mall and got what I needed. I enjoyed my Friday off and I am looking forward to President's Day which is my next 3-day weekend.

After finding out that the weather was going to prevent us from traveling I decided that it was going to be time for me to join the rest of the world and I broke down and got an iphone. I know that I am like the last person to have one (literally) and I haven't put it down since I got it.

16GB White iphone

I opted for the white one because I am not crazy about black electronics. If I had my choice all flat screens, computers, and everything electronic would be white or silver (the BF highly disagrees). My macbook is silver as is my ipod so getting a black iphone wouldn't work.

I did put my phone down for a few minutes this weekend just long enough to take pictures with my camera. Here are a few shots from the game and Hagan in the snow.

She wasn't crazy about having her picture taken!

Overall the BF and I had a great weekend. After the game we went bowling and we had a great time. I hadn't been bowling in ages and it was fun to do something different. I hope everyone had a great weekend and is staying warm.

Happy Snowy Sunday-

OOTD: Friday Night

I have admitted before that I love seeing what other blogger friends wear, and a lot of the bloggers that I follow post their OOTD (outfit of the day). I haven't done this before and thought I would try it.

OOTD: Friday Night

Picture quality is not that great, its a work in progress.

BCBG Ruffle jacket, Hudson Jeans, and TB Reva Flats

The collar on this jacket is super cute!

As most know the UK Wildcats were ranked #1 in the NCAA, and that ranking was short lived because they got beat on Tuesday. They are playing today and the BF are going, and lets just say I hope they do well because if not the BF may not be to chipper for the remaining of the evening:) (hahaha). It snowed about 5 inches here in Lexington last night but that is not going to deter the true Blue fan in both of us. We will trek across parking lots covered in snow and freeze our ears and noses to have the chance to cheer on the Big Blue.

GO BIG BLUE (for my sake I hope they win!)
Love, MKH

**Update on the Tory Burch "Heel Me" Situation:

I placed those heel inserts in my Reva flats and it worked. I wore the shoes last night and the fit great. If anyone is having problems with the heel slippage I would definately recommend the heel inserts. I am so glad that I am going to be able to wear them. Now that I know that the shoes are comfy I would be more apt to purchase another pair of shoes from TB.

Heel Me....

I hope everyone has had a great start to the week and is keeping warm. It is snowy here in KY and according to the weather it isn't going to be warm anytime soon.

A few weeks ago I purchased a pair of the Tory Burch Reva flats and I have only worn them a few times. I had heard such great things and was expecting these shoes to be fabulous. I wore them to work one day and to the mall soon there after and the shoes will not stay on my feet. I thought, "OMG" these shoes are sitting in the box and I am not excited to wear them.

Black Reva with silver topper

So on Sunday I told myself that I had to do something, so I went to Rite-Aid (ended up leaving with the new In-Touch gossip mag with Kourtney Kardashian on the cover too) and purchased a few dfferent options to help with the heel slippage that I am having. I even asked one of the sales people their opinion and they thought I was batty so I compared a few and ended buying all of the options I had pulled off the shelf. I left Rite Aid so excited that I had been pro-active in finding a "maybe solution" (because normally I wouldn't have even thought twice about it and I wouldn't have worn them) but I forgot them in my car and I keep forgetting to bring them in (its too cold to go out if it is not necessary).

Project #1:
Insert heel grips in (almost) new shoes.

Maybe if I like these inserts Dr. Scholl's will want me to do a product review or something (hahaha). I can always hope. I will be sure to post about how well these grippy things grip the back of my heels.

I know that I have posted about the BF's dog before. I guess you could say that Hagan (the dog) and I have gotten to be somewhat of friends. In the beginning she didn't care for me and the feeling was definately mutual. I think Hagan and I have gotten to the point where we have an understanding and we are civil (she still barks and I still get skiddish, I think that is her way of saying, "I'm still #1).

Even though we had a rough start, Hagan is like any other girl and she loves to have her picture taken. I snapped this photo of her and her dad this weekend.

He is such a proud Dad!

CATS game tonight, GO BIG BLUE!
Happy Tuesday

Weekend ReCap

Due to the long weekend the BF and I traveled to my hometown for a few days of R&R. We both had a great time and it was good to see everyone. The BF and I also got to meet my cousin Klay's GF, I was one of the last family members to meet her so it was finally nice to put a face with a name. As promised I took pictures.

We had a surprise of GIGI's waiting for us when we arrived!

Mal and the BF in their UK2K shirts. GO BIG BLUE!

Myself, Klay, and Ashley, (Ashley is getting married in Sept. -WOHOO)

The BF and I at lunch!

So I was off today due to the MLK Jr. holiday so I took full advantage of my downtime and went to the mall hoping to find some great Springy pieces. Well it was less than successful and I expected and I was slightly bummed. The stores were in that weird transition phase where the last of the winter pieces are on final clearance and the new stuff is still in the back and not on display. I was able to find a few things that will be a nice start to my Spring clothes.

Slate gray shift from JCrew. Very lightweight minus the tights and witchy boots

Peach  ruffled shell from JCrew.

I really like the peach shell, the picture doesn't do it justice.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and has a great day back tomorrow!

Scary Speidi

Happy Thursday... it is still super cold here in Lexington and I blame the weather for my lack of blogging. I think I may have a winter brain freeze, not the kind with ice-cream but the kind that all you want to do is stay warm and getting up to get your computer may cause frostbite (dramatic I know, but we hit 30 degrees today and I thought I was having hot flashes.)

My typical cold weather gear is not so much fashionable as it is warm. I learned really quickly that warmth is way more important and the cute little swing jackets and cropped vests are more appropriate for fall and early spring. I tell myself that looking like a Yeti is totally acceptable as long as I am warm.

My newest piece of winterized garb is a pair of the Burberry earmuffs. I had never been much of an earmuff person but after I walked a few mornings in the cold I soon became a believer. The earmuffs are super cute and the actual muff part that covers the ear is made from the same material (cashmere) that the Burberry scarves are. I opted for the cream ear covers instead of the camel.

LOVE LOVE LOVE...

On a much warmer weather note. Heidi Montag-Pratt (the tabloid crazy Hills member) has made news once again for her crazy addiction to plastic surgery. I was watching E! News last night and they briefly flashed a new (very plastic) photo of Heidi and I was like OMG, is that a drag-queen. I was totally convinced that some looney person had gone under the knife to look like Heidi (you know like a crazed fan or something ridiclous), but it was true and she looks totally different. She claims to have had 10 different procedures in one day.

As much as I hate to admit I'm a Hills Fan (pre-Kristin), and to be honest I always liked Heidi. She was never my favorite but I wasn't irritated by her. After seeing the clip I was totally shocked and to top it off People magazine ran her as their cover story. Not only does she look awful she is putting her insecurities on display for everyone to laugh at and mock. I have included some photos of Heidi through the years (as depicted by E! News)

Cute and natural...

A few little tweaks...Circa 2008

Cover of People Magazine out on stands now!
She is unrecognizable.

Oh Well. The BF and I are off to Franklin for the weekend (aka the land of dial-up Internet) and I will definately post pictures of the weekend.

Happy travels,

Blogging From Bed...

Day 4 of the snow and I am officially over it!!!!

I have been doing the whole blog thing for a few months now and I have picked up on a few things that a few blog buddies do and I think that I am going to start "Blogging From Bed" on Saturdays.

"Blogging From Bed" #1: Kate Gosselin's new non-spiked mullet hair-do.

Long extensions on the cover of People's current issue.

Before the extensions but without the spikedness. Much less harsh

I used to love watching John and Kate Plus Eight but now I just feel so bad for those kids. After the Gosselins went Hollywood the show went downhill so quickly. As much as I love reading the celeb magazines and watching the Entertainment TV I even think it is crazy that her new hairstyle was newsworthy.

Thoughts on Kate Gosslins' new do?

ROLL TIDE...Oh Sweet Memories

Happy Cold Weather...NOT

So tonight is the Alabama vs Texas game. Even though that Texas (the state not the University of Texas, I don't care for orange) has a special place in my heart I so hope Alabama wins. GO SEC.

GO ALABAMA!

When thinking of Alabama I am reminded of one of my most favorite road-trips while in college. My senior year a few friends and I decided to road-trip it to Tuscaloosa Alabama to watch UK play. It was October 2008 and it was so much fun, it was perfect weather for football and fun.

The trip was super fun and definately a top-5 college memory. In the spirit of the BCS Championship game I went through my digital photo albums and found some of my favorite pictures from the trip!

We stopped at the rest-stop with the rocket in Huntsville, Alabama.
I took a picture in front of the sign but couldn't find it:(

Myself & Anne Katherine at a Mexican restaurant.
Terribly dirty, just look at the two-toned walls...ick

Such a pretty stadium...

The view from our AMAZING seats, we sat right behind the band!

Anne Katherine, Lauren, and Myself. GO BIG BLUE!

Even though that UK lost that day I left loving Alabama. I have no idea why because so many people have bad impressions/ negative connotations about the entire state of Alabama. I will say that the accommadations (sp?) in Tuscaloosa were somewhat lacking. If I were to go back I would probably make better hotel arrangements. This trip we stayed in a SUPER 8 Motel and let me say that there was nothing SUPER about the place. I took photos but I will spare you the gross details. Even though it wasn't 5-star or even 1-star I still like Alabama.  The BF grumbles because of the whole competitive sports thing, but I think he is secretly upset (totally joking...) that he didn't get to go.

Oh well, GO ALABAMA, I promise I will come back and visit you soon:)
SWEET HOME ALABAMA,
Love, MKH

p/s- It is finally a new episode of Bravos The Real Housewives of Orange County. It has been two weeks and I am having withdrawls!

p/s/s- It is snowing like Alaska here and I am officially ready to move somewhere warm

Snowy Saturday...

So yesterday the BF and I decided to do a quick trip to Cincinnati to hit up Nordstrom and the Cheesecake Factory. Cincinnati our friendly friend to the North is so close and has so much more to offer than Lexington in terms of entertainment, food, and shopping that its crazy. Lexington shopping is pretty dismal and having no bigger department stores (Saks, Nordstroms, etc.) it makes it harder to find exactly what you are looking for. I have been trolling the online sites of the bigger box stores in search of a pair of nice black flats. I have found flats that are patent, suede, and bezzled flats but I couldn't find just a pair of simple black.

Knowing that Nordstrom had just opened in Cincinnati I pulled up their website and I finally found what I was looking for. Being nervous about (everything) buying shoes without trying them on the BF and I set out on a quick day trip (UK was playing UofL at 3:30 so we had to be back in time to watch) in search of my flats. When arriving at the mall we were both surprised at the size (huge mall) and how nice and new everything was. This was by far one of the nicer malls that I had been to and I had no idea that it was just an hour down the road.

I knew it was going to be a successful trip because we got a fantastic parking spot (it snowed the whole way we were driving) and it wasn't overly crowded. We made it to the shore section (they definately had a big selection) and I found the pair that we had come for. I tried them on and I was super excited that they fit and looked right (I was so excited about these shoes and I was hoping that I wasn't going to be disappointed).

Black Tory Burch Reva flat with silver pendant

When the sales associate brought out the shoes he also had pulled two other pairs of shoes that he thought I may like. Not wanting to be rude I opened the boxes and was like "he obviously didn't get the memo about me wanting a pair of simple black flats.

He couldn't have been more wrong! Even the BF was like, those are terrible.

Suggested Option #1: Awful

Suggested Option #2: Even Worse

I had no idea what to even say when I opened the boxes. Sparkly snake skin meets grungy plaid high-top.

After the quick sit-down at Nordstrom the BF and I wandered out into the mall in search of the Cheesecake Factory. We found it and had a nice lunch and even took a not-so-small treat home with us. I think the Cheesecake Factory and the doggie-bag was the highlight of the day for the BF.

Stefani's Ultimate Red Velvet Cheesecake. Yummy!

Overall it was a fantastic day and the CATS won! I hope everyone has a great day back tomorrow, try and stay warm!

Happy Sunday,

I FOUND IT...

As I was driving to my much needed hair appointment yesterday I saw the new home of GIGIs. I know right, enough with the cupcakes but I was so happy to have finally found the store. I have been trolling the website for updates on locations, and when the BF and I were in Louisville we asked the girl working about the location and she said that it had not been decided. I was totally not even paying attention I was thinking of my sweet tea from Sonic and I happened to look over and there was the sign for GIGI. It is fate that the Sonic is next to GiGIs, I mean really it is.

I guess when I go to get my hair done I will not only get to treat myself with a Sonic sweet tea I will be getting a cupcake too. Thank-goodness I wasn't irrational with my New Years Resolutions and try to cut back on the cupcakes. I may have to make a 1/2 Years Resolution in June (just in time for swim-suit weather) to lay off the cupcakes...

Happy Jan. 1st
Love, CUPCAKE OBSESSED

Happy 2010

I hope everyone had a fantastic NYE. It was absolutely freezing here and I was happy to have an easy night.

Doesn't the food look yummy! Last dinner of 2009

I saw this it made me want to share with everyone!
